Overview
A society and nation is known by its heritage, thus making heritage
conservation indispensable for the cultural identification that renders sense
of pride to the inhabitants of the region and citizens of the nation. Before
independence, India remained oppressed for centuries under the rule of
invaders who purposefully neglected its culture and civilization. Considering
the point, that India is one of the most ethnically and religiously diverse
nation of the world, with the most ancient culture and civilization, it
becomes imperative to work towards preserving its unique historical and
cultural heritage. Rohilkhand region was named after Rohillas- the diaspora
from Pashtun ancestry who were welcomed in this place- making it an
example of cultural integration.
