The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1996, is situated in the building of its own and occupying a space of 1596 sqm. There are 4 class rooms/lecture halls besides 5 well equipped laboratories. There are 8 faculty members, out of whom 01 Reader and 07 Lecturers . 09 Guest faculties and 04 Technical staffs also assist in the Department.

    The Department offers B.Tech. and the number of students intake is 60 every year. The success rate at examinations 90% and employment rate 50- 60% are fairly impressive in the present scenario.
The thrust areas of the Department included Strength of materials and non conventional energy sources. The major focus of the Department in teaching and research has been to start one Diploma & one postgraduate diploma course in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning apart from teaching B.Tech. courses in Mechanical Engineering and other branches. The Department has 30 Computers, well equipped Cad Lab, workshops, and other Labs as well. There is a plan of action to achieve the aims by way of future plans like enhancing its laboratory facilities.

    The department of Mechanical Engineering offers a B.Tech course in Mechanical Engineering with intake of 60 students. The department has one reader and three lecturers among regular faculties, and  guest lecturers. The department started functioning from 1996 and the first batch passed out in 2000. The department has been awarded research projects from AICTE. Two teachers are co-ordinates for recycling of paper waste project sponsored by AICTE in University Campus
